Biblia Pauperum. The Art of the Poor and Excluded - temporary exhibition

The works of arts created by the excluded, the alienated and the poor should be perceived as a result of human experiences and effects of overcoming daily challenges. This art is an answer to the artists’ needs, their joys and sorrows, it expresses their relations with sacrum, the nature around them and with other people. It does not matter if we are looking at works created decades or centuries ago. Human fate encapsulated in a pieceof wood, marked on paper or painted on a glass pane loses its locality, its provincial quality, no longer is it something not worth our attention.A piece of work an author “produced” for themselves unexpectedly reveals its timeless qualities, drawing the attention of people from all over the world. This is why this art is universal.
