For weeks Borussia's manager Rolf Rüssmann has been negotiating with AC Florence to make a transfer of Stefan Effenberg possible. Effenberg is desperate to return to the Bökelberg. That is, where he took his first steps in the Bundesliga seven years ago. The talks with the Italians are tough: actually, they would like to sell Effenberg. For financial reasons, however, Borussia only has the option of loaning the midfielder out - and even there, the ideas are far apart.
"If I have to, I'll come to Gladbach by bike," Effenberg says again and again in these turbulent weeks. And when the Borussians make the sensation perfect and "Effe" is initially loaned out for a year, Rüssmann takes this statement together with Marketing Director Ingo Schiller - Effenberg rides a mountain bike from the Borussia fanshop a few rounds at the airport and also at the later press conference.
The bike model can be bought in the fanshop. A fan buys this for his son and he later bequeaths it to FohlenWelt.
What happened to the original bicycle is unclear.
