Binave or Catamaran

Ancient picture of a 'Binave' in1918. Torres Quevedo conceived what is known nowadays as catamaran, denominated by Leonardo as 'Binave or watercraft with two water wings that are rigidly connected with an upper platform that provides with much more space than the one which is possible to get in the inside of small hulls'. The trials were carried out in Bilbao in 1918. This kind of watercraft was used in 1949 by the US Army. They are used nowadays in watercrafts all over the world, mostly in sports navigation. It is about a pioneer patent right in the catamarans with metallic hull for express maritime passengers transportation around the world.
