A biographical account of Henry Morton (1836-1902), written to accompany the presentation of Morton's painted portrait to the Stevens Institute of Technology trustees. A reproduction of the portrait is shown in the frontispiece. Morton was the first president of the Stevens Institute of Technology from 1870 until his death in 1902. He was a prominent scientist in Philadelphia, and his accomplishments included the founding of the Philadelphia Dental College, editing the Franklin Institute Journal, and conducting research on "Fluorescent and Absorption Spectra of the Uranium Salts." The volume consists of three sections: a biographical sketch of Morton's life, a description of his research, and a selection of his poems. Digitized content includes covers, title page, frontispiece, and two engraved plates.
