Bird-shaped Pottery

This earthenware artifact is crafted in the shape of a bird with its wings spread wide, a highly distinct type of pottery that is representative of the Yeongsangang River basin. There is a hole in one end of the wings, while the other end is sealed. Since birds can fly freely through the sky, people of the past regarded them as sacred beings that acted as intermediaries between the earth and the heavens.
