Birds and Flowers

This is an excellent work from the category of richly-colored paintings of birds and flowers. The minute depictions of clearly outlined and shaded leaves and stems reflects the influence of the Nanpin (Shen Quan) school. A painting of almost exactly the same design was also made by Okyo Maruyama (included in the collection of the British Museum), suggesting that there probably existed some kind of master copy in Chinese painting.
