One of the largest eagles in the world. Their wingspan is about 2 meters, and some Steller's sea eagles can be as long as 2.5 meters. Both fly in as winter birds, but small numbers of Steller's sea eagles can be seen year-round. Eagles are attracted to the carcasses of fish, birds, and mammals. During the harsh winter months when food is scarce, there is a fierce competition for food.
