Birgit Prinz is one of Germany’s greatest players. She became the first woman to register a hat-trick at an Olympic Games in the 2000 tournament and has won the World Cup twice, as well as being voted FIFA Women’s Player of the Year three times.

In 2016, The Guardian listed her as the fourth greatest female player of all time. Her international career spanned between 1994 and 2011, during which time she made 214 appearances and scored 128 goals.

Prinz featured as an attacking midfielder and centre-forward for the Germany at the 2003 World Cup, winning both the Golden Ball and the Golden Shoe. She finished as the WWC’s top scorer, her seven goals firing Germany to the title for the very first time.
