Black and Tans at London and North Western Hotel, Dublin

The Black and Tans were recruited into the Royal Irish Constabulary as Temporary Constables from January 1920, and were largely made up of ex- British servicemen and sailors. The name was derived from the uniform of dark green RIC jackets and khaki military trousers.
