This cheongsam, with the traditional no-seam design between shoulder and sleeves, the narrow single-color piping, simple frogs and the use of snap fasteners, and a diagonal placket from collar to the right, shows signs of simplified tailoring based on the inheritance of tradition. It was designed for middle-aged women given its low-profile yet graceful style without redundant embellishment.
The textile of dark glossy burnout velvet, which hangs and drapes easily, could accentuate the figure of the wearer even with a slightly larger size. As for the lining, jacquard velvet was used while silk fabric without velvets was specifically applied to the inside of collar for the sake of comfort of wearing and convenience of washing, a testimony to the thoughtfulness of the tailor.
