The fibreglass black horse sculpture outside Blackhorse Road Victoria line station is by David McFall. The mosaic surround is by Trata Drescha. This station opened on the Victoria line on 1 September 1968 and was the only significant new above-ground structure to be built especially for the line. The black horse sculpture is the most striking feature of this single-storey steel-framed building. The Victoria line was the first Underground line to cross London since 1907. It links some of the City's busiest interchanges: King's Cross St Pancras, Oxford Circus, and Victoria.
