Black star fatminnow

It is a fish of the Cyprinidae family and is a cold-water fish that lives only in limited rivers such as the upper reaches of the Namgang River and Jigyeongcheon in Goseong-gun, the northernmost part of Korea, or valleys between mountains. They live in groups where the water is clear and the water temperature is low. The body is dark brown on the back and light on the belly. The scales are small and difficult to distinguish with a naked eye. The scales on the side of the body are densely packed with brown chromatophores at the edges, giving them a crescent-shaped appearance. When alive, the bases of the pectoral fins are dark yellow, and the dorsal and anal fins and the front of the pectoral fins are yellow. It is characterized by a black spot at the base of the dorsal fin.
