Blackpool is one of England's great seaside resorts. By the end of the 19th century, it was attracting millions of visitors each year. Blackpool is renowned for its mass entertainment venues. Blackpool Tower opened on 14 May 1894. At the time, it was the country's tallest building. Among its many attractions, visitors could enjoy an aquarium, menagerie, billiard saloon and the Tower Ballroom.
