This is a blacksmith tool for wire and chain making stuck in the ground between the legs (called Kitdmeo in Kitui area) This is 40-50 year old made from the wood of the "Mwanga" tree which is a especially hard wood. This Gitati is decorated in the inside. The design used is called "Thoo" and is taken from the cicatrised design design found on the bodies of a Kamba of that district in days gone by.
