Designed in 1799 by the British architect Robert Woodgate for the 11th Baron Blayney, the house was sold in 1853 to British banker Henry Hope and renamed Hope Castle. The house’s prolonged and embellished garden front was a Victorian addition. The house subsequently became a convent.
