Bleeding Horn

National Museums of Kenya

National Museums of Kenya
Nairobi, Kenya

This cowhorn is used for bleeding when someone is ill. It is cut with a knife by the men and used by everybody but mostly the women. Unlike most other communities, it does not have the end stopper. All the El Molo have small cut scars in many places on their bodies from such bleeding operations. Bleeding is usually resorted to if a person is ill or has an ache.
