Nuremberg toymaker Georges Carette introduced a small line of tin toy aircraft and zeppelins not long after the Wright Brothers’ 1905 flight. Propelled by a celluloid plastic propeller, this clock-work zeppelin flew across rooms when suspended from a string or wire. Despite the international fascination with the dawning air-age, few toy aircraft from this period survive today.
