The white blind cricket ball was first officially used in the 2003/04 seasons, however some states did use the ball earlier.

The black nylon ball had been used since 1974. Prior to this, the cane wicker ball had been used, invented in Australia, and used circa late 19th century to early 20th century. Prior to this, crude kerosene/tin cans were moulded into an oval shape with rocks inside, as a cricket ball.
