Adelaide, Australia

Part of the Historical Relics Collection (Queen Adelaide Collection). The QAC represents the continuous links between the British Empire and the colony in South Australia. Originally owned by Queen Adelaide, the gift of this book to a resident of the colony demonstrates the direct connection of some individuals to the Queen.

The book has a purple velvet cover with embroidered gold leaf and mother of pearl floral designs and a gold silk inside. The leaves of the book have been bound to the cover, tied with a blue ribbon. Within the book are three leaves: a sheet of card with a fabric backing, a sheet of card, and fabric padding.
