Blue and White Porcelain Jar with Phoenix Design

This jar has a wide mouth and swelling shoulders. A large phoenix in pale blue and copper red appears around the shoulder. The mythical quality of the phoenix is emphasized by the superbly drawn feathers and wings. This jar is a notable example of the diverse technique, form, and design during the late Joseon Dynasty.
