Blue-and-white water pot with bamboo and pomegranate, Izushi ware

With the bamboo being evergreen throughout the seasons, it is seen in China as a symbol of a noble monarch who is not easily influenced by anyone or any circumstances. The bamboo is frequently used as a motif in painting and crafts. From the design of this pitcher it can be speculated that it was made for keeping clean water for use at sencha tea ceremonies.
