Boucher’s Blue Comet models the real New Jersey Central express train, which speeded gamblers and vacationers from New York to Atlantic City, New Jersey in the 1920s and early ‘30s. Horace Boucher was a model maker who acquired the Voltamp line of toy trains in 1923. Seeking to differentiate his products from Lionel and American Flyer, Boucher lavished precision detail on his range of locomotives and rolling stock. Unfortunately, his insistence on authenticity was slightly ahead of his time and Boucher’s expensive line of trains did not survive the Great Depression.
