The decorative solution exemplifies the type of designs known as "mazze" that were developed for clothing fabrics in the late sixteenth century and reproposed again in the first decades of the seventeenth century. The refined and precious design motif, all played out on the chromatic contrast of gold and silver on a blue background, reworks decorative effects borrowed from the goldsmith's art.
