《Blue Island》 is like a concluding phase of the artist's world view. The world he has silently observed at length is described as poison(signified by the color blue). His works from this period employ a broad perspective, utilizing images from various motifs including athletic meets, the ocean, or masterpiece paintings. When looking at the works from this period, the world he represents does not look so easily manageable. Yang visualizes the world from a certain distance to encompass an athletic meeting rife with competition, the roaring blue ocean threatening to engulg everything, and the countless spontaneous human alliances joined by power, and the deaths of individuals obliterated by people’s apathy.
