Since the 60's, 'circle', with its philosophical notion, has become an icon of Hon. The 'circle' holds complex metaphysical inferences for the artist: the universe, life and death, Buddhism and Taoism, love in its fundamental form, inspiration for art, the ultimate source of energy...The trashed iron wheel and the Chinese character of "swirl" flowing in a spin-like direction added to this abstract painting a strong visual impact. They also demonstrate Hon's creativity in making use of different materials in his work.
