Bluebell

Hannah says: "It was important to me as a Yorkshire Artist that I represented this beautiful region and painted a portrait of a NHS Hero who worked or lived in Yorkshire. I feel ever so lucky to have found Bluebell, there’s a warmth about her smile and a glow all about her, a brilliant light that seems to shine from within. That strength and beauty, that is what I aimed to portray as that to me not only represents Yorkshire but also the power and wonder of doctors, nurses and key workers all over the world who have been absolute forces of nature throughout this crisis. Bluebell, it has been my honour to paint your portrait."

Bluebell says: "My name is Bluebell Du-Valle and I work as a nurse at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals for Neuro Critical Care. I am currently supporting General Intensive Care using my skills to care for our brothers and sisters who have contracted the Covid-19 virus. My job consists of many different skills but the main and most important trait that I take pride in expressing is compassion.

I worked in emergency medicine as well as A&E prior to my role in intensive care naturally exposing me to many sad days, but also many positive too. I have also experienced deep loss in my personal life and failings of my own health teaching me more than any privileged observation could; the frailty and preciousness of life. These trying times have further broadened my shoulders, tested my perseverance and self-belief. My job can be very stressful but seeing people recover, seeing smiles returned, families reunited and lives touched is a fresh reminder of why I am a nurse.

For every patient suffering in their hospital bed I make the most of my own life, I go a little further, I enjoy the simple things with gratitude and feel blessed for what I have, and if ever I grow weary and doubt that I cannot go on, I feel Gods encouragement and promise that we will weather the storm.
