The R 50 model shown here was manufactured as of 1955. This machine served as the basis for a series of sport and touring motorcycles of similar construction. The frame with independent suspension gave the bike its exemplary handling characteristics, such as its good roadability. A narrow, adjustable dropped handlebar could be set to any height and desired seat position. At the time, the motorcycle fell into the upper mid-range category of vehicles and was considered by some the “ideal motorcycle.”
