Simple race games for younger children often utilized themes from classic children's literature. The Stoll & Edwards Co., Inc. produced "Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn" board game in 1920, based on the Mark Twain novel first published in the United States in 1885. Games with a literature subject probably appealed more to game-buying adults than simple competitive games.
