From 1961 through 1965 Milton Bradley Company produced a series of board games called "American Heritage." These games dealt with themes of war and patriotism. One of the best-loved is called Dogfight and was published in 1963. Dogfight is a simple strategy game in which one player has five American warplanes and one has five German planes. By means of cards, players move single planes towards the enemy and away, engaging in battles. Some serious war gaming adults, in posts on the Internet, remember Dogfight fondly and claim that it helped them develop a passion for war and strategy games later in life.
