New York game manufacturer E.I. Horseman produced a unique game in 1890. Basilinda resembles classic Chinese checkers with the addition of "cannon" and "captain" playing pieces. Players arrange their armies while a central screen blocks their opponent's arrangement. When the screen is lifted, pieces opposite a cannon are "dead." The last captain on the board wins the game.
