After Parker Brothers purchased the rights to manufacture Monopoly from Charles Darrow, sales of the popular game began to skyrocket. Brisk sales during 1935 led to record-setting sales in 1936. American publishers brought out similar financial games, hoping to profit from Monopoly's fame and popularity. Rival company Transogram issued their variation of the popular game, entitled Big Business, which played in a manner that was nearly identical. Parker Brothers took issue and forced Transogram to change the design.
