Game manufacturers have always produced combination games, sold as several games in one package. The huge 20th century publisher Saalfield, of Akron, OH, was famous for the many children's books and book series it published. The firm also branched out into playthings, especially those which utilized the firm's printing expertise, such as paper dolls and board games. A 1954 combination board game with illustrations by cartoonist Howard Boughner contains 12 different game boards, all brightly printed in color.
