In 1977, Milton Bradley Company produced a board game spinoff named for the "Charlie's Angels" television program that premiered in 1976. A far cry from boardgames made during the 1960's, such as Miss Popularity, the Charlie's Angels game featured three crime-solving women who trap a criminal by combining their individual talents. Although immensely popular, the television program drew criticism because the leading characters all remained thin and often wore scanty costumes (often as part of their undercover villian-catching method) or bathing suits. The program retains a cult following and both it and the board game recall the popular culture of the late 1970s.
