A great example of a high quality McLoughlin game, "College Boat Race" shows that people enjoyed the sport of rowing, or "crew" at the turn of the 19th century in America. In this board game, the actual board is fixed to the inside box bottom. The walls of the box bottom are made of wood, covered with decorative paper. All the other box components are paper-covered cardboard. The box cover image demonstrates McLoughlin's skill at design. Surely this image appealed to aspiring young rowers.
