People have been playing board games for centuries, and many of the games we play today, such as chess and Sorry!, have ancient origins. Go-Moku, a strategy board game, first appeared in China over 4,000 years ago, and soon became popular in Japan and Korea. The game challenges players to move their game pieces around a board and try to create unbroken rows of five pieces horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. Europeans first learned and adapted the game in the 19th century. Milton Bradley published a direct descendent of Go-Moku, called Go Bang: The Five-In-Line Game, in the 1950s. Other variants of the ancient game include Pente, Reversi, and Connect Four.
