Holly Hobbie is a character drawn initially for the American Greetings card line. The designer is actually named Holly Hobbie and she resides in Massachusetts. Hobbie designed the character in the late 1960s and it gained in popularity throughout the 1970s. First the Knickerbocker Company, and now Mattel, created Holly Hobbie dolls. The character underwent a redesign in 2006, in a spin-off line entitled "Holly Hobbie and Friends." Both new and original style dolls and character-inspired toys and games are widely available. Parker Brothers produced a board game around the original character in 1979.
