The classic board game Battleship probably dates to around the time of World War I, when it was played with a pencil on paper. The game, in its many forms, has endured to the 21st century. It was one of the first games to be computer controlled. Battleship showed up in the early 1960s as a plastic and paper send-away premium game for the post cereal Honeycomb.
