Whitman Publishing of Racine, Wisconsin began publishing children's books sometime after 1900. The form eventually branched out to produce simple inexpensive toys and games for children as well. The games were often modelled after successful classic games. Whitman's take on Tiddledy Winks features a game board which holds the cup targets. Whitman also published versions of this game which utilized marbles thrown from a small catapult, instead of standard plastic "winks."
