In 2013 Hasbro introduced Monopoly Empire, a version of Monopoly in which players purchase brands instead of properties, and win by filling their "tower" with billboards of the brands they own. A clever twist on traditional Monopoly, the Empire version replaces the wealth relationship of owning land and collecting rent to that of owning top brands--and collecting license fees. To date Hasbro has produced two editions of this game. In the second, "silver" edition the tokens and some brands have been replaced with more contemporary examples. The game won a 2013 Parents Choice award.
