Aside from classic and ancient games such as chess and checkers, the board game Monopoly is the best-selling and most popular board game in history. In recent years, this is partly do to the many licensed versions which are marked for characters and themes in popular culture. A New York Yankees collector might purchase a Yankees commemorative Monopoly game, just for the novelty. It is not surprising that USAopoly sought a license for a Mickey Mouse version from Disney, as well as license from Hasbro to make a Monopoly variant, on the 75th anniversary of the character Mickey Mouse.
