Monopoly in 2019 is still the most popular and best-selling board game, even if many people only now buy proprietary or vanity editions to augment their collections of other materials. In 2019 one spin-off version by Hasbro caused a few blips in the popular culture and/or social media commentaries. The game, Ms. Monopoly, had good initial intentions. Instead of buying properties, players invest in inventions or technologies invented by women, with biographical information on the (former) real estate cards. Further, women playing the game automatically earn $40 more than men each payday, but men can make up the difference by supporting women. However, many critics have expressed anger at the implied idea that women must be paid more because they're worse Monopoly players. Some felt that a board game was no place for gender politics at all. The game received a lot of press exposure for a brief while. Is all press good press?
