The game of Operation has been around since 1965, when it was invented and patented by the game design firm of MGA--Marvin Glass and Associates. Glass took the idea from Joe Spinello, an engineering student who had devised the concept to complete a class assignment. MGA sold the idea to Milton Bradley, which redesigned the game to represent the surgeon and patient in the current version. Virtually unchanged since then, the game is an enduring favorite with young and old alike.
