In the mid-1970s Milton Bradley manufactured a board game called Tank Battle, in which players plot a battlefield unseen by their opponent. Players' tanks then traverse this field, trying to avoid unknown perils. The game is patterned after classic battle and strategy games such as battleship and Stratego, in which a player plots a different field arrangement each game. Tank Battle was especially praised for its realistic game board and plastic tank replicas, made after World War II-era American and German tank designs.
