From its initial founding in New York in 1917 to its listing on the New York Stock Exchange in 1962, the Transogram Company was one of the major forces in American Toy and Game manufacture in the 20th century. The firms early efforts are typified by a colored wood tenpins set, enclosed in a box designed to appeal to children. Transogram was later the first firm to consult child psychologists in its toy design and adopted the motto "kid tested."
