Chafee & Selchow produced "The Game of Cat" based on a now-forgotten outdoor game, in 1898. The board game takes the form of a simple strategy race game in which one player takes the role of the cat, and the other players attempt to catch him or her. Chafee & Selchow's box cover designs often featured realistic images of people and children, as in this example. The children illustrated here are most likely playing the forgotten "Cat" game.
