Parker Brothers' "The King's Highway" board game is a great example to study on many levels. Some board games from this era are not dated, but this has a clear date of 1895. Many games were aimed either at little girls or little boys; this game remains neutral. And finally, the game is based on a song or nursery rhyme, "The King's Highway." Funny, late-nineteenth century graphics of cat characters, on the box cover, complete the whole package. That era took great interest in the graphic reproduction of cats, promoting products of all sorts.
