McLoughlin's 1890 game "the New & Popular Game of Kings and Queens" is a two-player strategy game, pitting kings against queens. The play resembles the game checkers; a player who places two of his pieces in the opposing "home" space wins the game. Like many games from this early period, this example bears the signs of use and enjoyment. At some point, an owner sewed the box edges to hold it together.
