In 1969, Ideal Toy Corporation released one of its most successful doll lines. The firm unveiled the Crissy doll, with hair that "grew" and could be retracted with the turn of a knob. Little girls enjoyed making the hair grow and shorten, and enjoyed styling the hair at different lengths. Crissy's "cousin" Velvet appeared soon afterward and the entire line of dolls sold well for many years. The line spawned several spin-off products including paper dolls, a colorforms set, and a board game.
