Walt Disney Productions released "The Rescuers" film in 1977. The 23rd film in Disney's animated classics series, "The Rescuers" was Disney's most successful release since "The Jungle Book" in 1967, and lasted until "The Little Mermaid" in 1989. Though some critics felt that Disney's quality in animation suffered during this period, until 'Mermaid' and the string of blockbusters that followed it, "The Rescuers" helped maintain the firm's reputation and won nominations for several awards. The film has been successfully re-released twice since then. Like so many popular movies, "The Rescuers" inspired a board game, produced by Parker Brothers.
