Walt Disney first began to envision building his own theme park when he visited various amusement parks with his daughters in the 1930s and 1940s. His vision became a reality when in 1953 he purchased 160 acres near Anaheim, California, the future site of Disneyland, the only park designed and built under his direct supervision. Disneyland Park first opened to the public on July 18, 1955, featuring attractions such as Frontierland, Tomorrowland, and Fantasyland. The park, a dream destination for many American children, became the subject of a Transogram board game. Released just four years after the park opened, Walt Disney's Disneyland Game took players on an adventure around the park, collecting their favorite characters, such as Davy Crockett and Mickey Mouse, along the way.
